Local information about Tottenham

The north London district of Tottenham, in the borough of Haringey, is fast becoming one of London’s trendiest areas. Recent interest in the area has seen some compare its regeneration to areas of Hackney such as Shoreditch and Dalston.

An increase in the number of bars, pubs and clubs popping up has attracted a different demographic to Tottenham of late, and take out coffee and craft beer is now easy to come by throughout the area. In contrast to this new influx, there’s plenty of history in Tottenham too with the area home the world-famous football club, Tottenham Hotspur F.C., that has existed since the 1880s.

Some of Tottenham’s architecture is distinctive, and perhaps even unique; the Tower Gardens Estate is one of the world’s first cottage estates, featuring terraced cottages from the early 1900s. Lots of warehouse space in Tottenham has now been converted to flats and new-build developments are constantly emerging, such as in Hale Village. Some period homes and lots of purpose-built flats are also found throughout Tottenham.

Tottenham is easily accessible from the city : Tottenham Hale receives underground and National Rail service; South Tottenham has strong overground links; and the nearby Seven Sisters station is on the Victoria Line.
