Local information about Withdean

Withdean is an area within the city of Brighton and Hove, in East Sussex.

Traditionally a village on the outskirts of Brighton, the area now shares the BN1 postcode with the Coldean, Falmer, Hollingbury, Patcham, Preston, Stanmer and Withdean areas, as well as parts of Brighton city centre.

Withdean is home to a number of local landmarks; Withdean Stadium, an 8,850-capacity athletics track, was the home ground of Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. for 12 years until 2011, while the neighbouring Withdean Woods is a large nature reserve & well-known bird-watching destination.

Most of the housing in Withdean was built in the 1920s & 1930s, with streets of large detached houses and semi-detached family homes accounting for much of the local property.

Withdean is within walking distance of Brighton city centre, and there are plenty of local buses with routes around the local area. Preston Park railway station is also easily walkable.
