Housekeep takes part in the Great British Spring Clean 2022

The Housekeep Clean Dream Team took part in the Great British Spring Clean last week, cleaning the parks & streets around our office in Farringdon.

This year’s edition of the litter picking event, which is organised annually by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, was dubbed the #BigBagChallenge. And it didn’t disappoint – with litter heroes across the country pledging to pick a whopping 449,406 bags of litter between them.

We focused our efforts on Clerkenwell Green, Spa Fields, Exmouth Market & Farringdon Road. Our clean dream team collected hundreds of items of litter – including bottles, cans, wrappers, plus some larger items such as discarded clothing.

Litter is a huge problem across the UK, with devastating impacts on our environment, health and wildlife. It takes decades for many items litter to decompose and, while it's doing so, it creates soil & water pollution that damages our eco-system. Litter is also linked directly to the deaths of millions of animals and birds each year. Not to mention – it’s super ugly too.

We’re proud to be able to play even a small part in fixing our local litter problem – and would encourage everyone else to get involved next year. A huge thanks from us to Keep Britain Tidy – for arranging another fantastic GB Spring Clean and for their continued efforts to raise awareness about the problems caused by litter.
