Housekeep Founder collects MBE at Windsor Castle

Housekeep Founder, Avin Rabheru, collected his MBE from the Princess Royal, at Windsor Castle last month.

Avin was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in January 2022, for services to entrepreneurship and digital innovation in the cleaning industry.

The MBE acknowledges Avin’s achievements as an investor and advisor, and as the Founder and CEO of Housekeep, who have become the UK’s largest home cleaning service after Avin recognised that technology could be used to transform the lives of cleaners and to fix the broken UK home cleaning market.

Housekeep’s technology platform and apps create radically better conditions for cleaners, increasing earnings by up-to 50%. Housekeep’s technology pairs cleaners with local customers, which reduces the time they spend travelling and increases their utilisation. The job allocation and route optimisation technology has saved cleaners over £10,000,000 in travel costs and over 4,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Since Avin started Housekeep in 2014, the business has delivered 1.5 million weekly and fortnightly cleans to homes across London and South East England, with a 4.9* average customer rating

As well as sweeping across the country with their home cleaning service, Housekeep is expanding into tradesperson services including plumbers, handymen & builders. These services are growing fast, with Housekeep delivering thousands of tradesperson jobs in 2022. Housekeep is on a mission to disrupt the entire home services market and “own the home” in the coming years.

Commenting on the award, Avin remarked:

“It's a real honour to be awarded this MBE for Services to Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation by the Princess Royal. I've been working with young, growing businesses for nearly two decades - initially as an investor and advisor, and now as the founder of Housekeep - while always striving to do things right and to do the right thing. I'm really proud of the work we've done at Housekeep to transform the livelihoods of thousands of cleaners and tradespeople, and the team and culture we've built at Head Office. I'm looking forward to growing Housekeep even further in the coming years, and remaining involved in the UK startup space as an adviser and investor.”

As well as being awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year’s Honours list, Avin has previously been awarded 'Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year' at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, 'Tech Entrepreneur of the Year' at the UK Business Tech Awards and 'Asian Tech Pioneer' at the Asians in Tech Awards.
