Here at Housekeep we’re pretty obsessed with keeping our homes neat and tidy and with the Christmas period fast approaching, we thought it would be a great idea to collect some gift ideas for our fellow house proud homemakers! Most of these gifts would be a great purchase for someone who ought to be a little more house proud too.
The personalised door mat
No better place to start this list then at the front door. With one of Zazzle’s personalised door mats your gift will leave an immediate impression on friends and family who grace the recipient's home. With almost a hundred designs to personalise, and even the possibility of uploading an image to your design, there’s plenty of scope to really tailor this gift to your house proud loved one. Be careful though - however fond you are of the recipient of this gift, we would steer clear from getting photos of your loved ones printed on door mats. These are almost guaranteed to startle your guests and have them doing a U-turn at the front door!
The desktop organiser
As with many Londoners, we’re always looking for new ways to maximise space and keep organised. For your workspace at home, there are a few different handy desktop storage solutions that can help you to keep the place that little bit tidier. One of our favourite desktop solutions comes from Betterware, which sits neatly above your computer keyboard to keep all of those stationary essentials within arm’s reach. We think this one is perfect for your loved one with the home office. If you’ve got a minute, it’s definitely worth checking out some of the other very reasonably-priced stock on this site too. We’re big fans of the Sink Tidy, in particular, which keeps all of your kitchen cleaning products neatly organised sink-side.
Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up
For someone who is interested in the theory behind great organisation and tidiness, why not grab a copy of Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. This book is guaranteed to change your lucky relative’s outlook on how to maintain the domestic setting, providing insightful tips and tricks to keep your home clutter-free. This one is great too for those who are yet to realise the benefits of tidiness, and would make a thoughtful gift for anyone you may suspect to have that dreaded word ‘declutter’ pencilled in for the New Year’s Resolution.
Robotic Vacuum Cleaner
In a different price bracket to the other gifts on this list, the robotic vacuum cleaner is no doubt a game-changer. Bringing great vacuuming tech and mobile phone technology together, most robotic vacuums can be controlled and scheduled from your mobile through an app, meaning you can clean remotely! Dyson, perhaps unsurprisingly, seem to lead the way with this new tech, but there are plenty of other options, most of which are reviewed heavily online. Don’t forget to read up before taking the dive and make sure you weigh up the pros and cons of different models first. Although the price of this one may sting at first, we think this might just be the present of the year for your house-proud loved one.
The novelty mug
A tongue-in-cheek present for the clean conscious family member, these range in cheesiness; Of course on our Christmas list we have the classic ‘Keep calm and carry on cleaning’ mug and the ever-so-slightly more tasteful ‘I’d rather be cleaning’. Although these probably aren’t worth wrapping up and getting under the tree for your dearest, they’re a fun and perfectly adequate stocking filler for the cleaning-obsessed member of your family. We’re pretty sure that ours will get some mileage in the office come the New Year.
