Local information about East Ham

East Ham, E6, is a district of East London, located within the London Borough of Newham.

Once a united area as the historic Hamme, East Ham is now divided from West Ham by Upton Park and the Boleyn Ground, the former home of the ‘Hammers’, West Ham United F.C. The club no longer play in Upton Park and have now moved across Newham to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford.

As a result of the 2012 London Olympics, the borough of Newham has seen in increase in public investment and infrastructure. Many traditional East London houses, mostly in period terraces, remain, although the housing landscape of the area now includes new-build apartments as well as other flats.

Great public transport links exist within East Ham, with the underground station receiving reliable service in- and out- of Central London via the Hammersmith & City and District Line tube lines. Reasonable property prices, as well as these great transport links, make East Ham a popular home for commuters to the City and Canary Wharf.
