Local information about Hounslow

Hounslow lends its name to both a borough and district in South West London. Sitting on the westernmost edge of London, the shares a border with Surrey as well as other London boroughs.

There’s plenty to do in Hounslow, with landmarks bringing crowds from in and around London as well as local residents. Syon House is one of London’s finest manors, complete with gardens and lakes, making it a popular tourist attraction. The grounds are also home to The Great Conservatory, an impressive greenhouse structure that for housed exotic plants for many years after its construction in Victorian times. Other attractions include Chiswick House, another architecturally impressive structure.

The property market in Hounslow is based largely upon residential streets built within the last century. There are still plenty of homes in the borough from the eighteenth-century, as well as post-war developments and luxury new-build flats. Many of the period houses can be found in Chiswick, a pretty villagey part of the borough that hugs the Thames.

Throughout the borough, transport links are strong with Hounslow East, Hounslow West and Hounslow Central all receiving Picadilly line service. Many other rail lines connect commuters from Chiswick to their central London workplaces.
