Chingford, formerly of Essex, is a green and spacious suburb in the North East London borough of Waltham Forest. Historically, the area is significant as a part of the parliamentary constituency of Sir Winston Churchill: Chingford and Woodford Green. This slice of history is celebrated by a grade-II listed statue of the wartime leader that has stood on the nearby Woodford Green since 1959.
The Chingford Mount area is home to a selection of fine art deco architecture from the inter war years. Sadly, the Chingford Odeon - the most impressive example of this - is no more, although other examples remain. The domestic architecture throughout the area is manifold, with period properties of varied size, as well family-sized houses from the last century, dominating the housing landscape. Purpose built-flats are also easily found for younger demographics or couples looking to call Chingford home.
