Local information about Watford
Watford is a town, northwest of London, in the neighbouring county of Hertfordshire. Situated within the M25, the town is well within the London commuter belt and is a great place for families and professionals to settle on the outskirts of the city.
Early twentieth-century and inter-war development in the town was begun to thwart the problem of overpopulation in the town. Many of these homes still pop up on the local property ladder, although these are now joined by post-war and even new-build houses, often semi-detached. These family-sized homes are popular with workers from London, due to their reasonable asking prices. The town centre, as well as residential streets, also contain examples of recent mock Tudor, beamed architecture.
Watford Junction provides a route into London from the town and, catching the right train, the journey takes little more than a quarter hour. Watford High Street also provides locals with London Overground service.
