Local information about Chigwell
Chigwell is a town on the outskirts of London, in the Essex district of Epping Forest.
Although not technically a part of London, Chigwell is considered as part of the metropolitan area of London, as well as the Greater London Built-up Area.
Due to the distance from the city, residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor space; Epping Forest (London's largest outdoor space), Hainault Forest Park and Roding Valley Meadows Nature Reserve are all just a stone's throw from the town.
Chigwell tube station, as well as the nearby Grange Hill tube station, are both serviced by the Central Line, making it relatively quick for locals to make their way into Central London, in spite of the distance.
The Chigwell property scene is dominated by large houses, many of which are fully detached and come with impressive gardens. You can also see stylish "mock Tudor" architecture across many of the town's houses. New-build and purpose-built flats/apartments complete the town's property landscape and ensure that there's something for everyone.
