How much does it cost to wall mount a TV?

The cost of hiring a handyman to wall mount a TV typically ranges from £60 - £120 (inc VAT) but will depend on the size of the TV. Larger TVs usually cost more to wall mount, as they often require heavier-duty fixings, and may need two people, especially for screens over 60″.

Most handymen will charge by the hour, but you may find some who charge a fixed rate per job instead.

You can supply the wall bracket yourself, or ask your handyman to provide one. If they source the bracket for you, expect an additional 20% on top of the bracket’s cost to cover sourcing and travel.

Here's how much you can expect to pay to wall mount your TV in London and outside of London.

Up to 32″ £40 – £70 (inc VAT) £60 – £90 (inc VAT)
33″ – 43″ £40 – £70 (inc VAT) £60 – £90 (inc VAT)
44″ – 49″ £50 – £90 (inc VAT) £80 – £120 (inc VAT)
50″ – 59″ £70 – £90 (inc VAT) £70 – £90 (inc VAT)

66″+ £90 – £130+ (inc VAT) £120– £180+ (inc VAT)

The cost of wall mounting a TV in London is typically around 20% higher than elsewhere in the UK. If you live in a more rural area, you may also be charged slightly more to cover travel time and fuel costs - especially if you live far out into the sticks.

What other factors affect the cost of wall mounting a TV?

While TV wall mounting is generally straightforward, a few factors can increase the overall cost such as the type of wall you have, hiding cables, when you book and who you book with.

1. Type of wall

Solid brick or concrete walls are usually easier to work with than plasterboard or dot-and-dab walls, which may need specialist fixings. Stud walls can also add time if the studs need to be located.

2. Whether you want to hide cables

If you’d like cables hidden inside the wall, neatly trunked, or routed to a media cabinet, this will add extra time and cost to the job. Some handymen offer full cable concealment as an optional extra, which can significantly improve the finished look. This can cost roughly between £100 - £200 (inc VAT).

A much more budget-friendly alternative is to purchase wire covers (usually cost no more than £10).

3. Electrical considerations

If you’re relocating your TV to a different room, additional work may be needed. This can include installing a new plug socket, running cables behind walls, or relocating connections to a media cabinet. If this is the case, you'll need a qualified electrician to do the additional work.

4. When you book

You'll generally pay more for slots booked for early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Your handyman is also likely to add an extra charge if you book with notice or on the same day.

5. Who you book with

Sole traders will usually charge less than more established companies. However, booking with a larger tradesperson business often comes with extra perks, such as better availability, instant online booking, and access to a responsive customer service team if anything goes wrong.

Can I wall mount a TV by myself?

While DIY wall mounting is possible, it’s usually better to book a handyman to avoid a wonky TV or an expensive accident.

A handyman will safely and securely mount your TV, while also preventing damage to your walls, hidden cables, or pipes (common problems when attempting to wall mount a TV without experience).
