Hove is a seaside town which forms part of the city of Brighton & Hove, and the county of East Sussex.
Despite merging with Brighton in 1997 to form a borough (which later became a city, in 2001), Hove has continued to maintain its own distinct identity. Asked whether they live in Brighton, locals are known to reply "Hove, actually", a phrase rumoured to have been coined by Laurence Olivier, the esteemed actor and former Hove resident.
Hove is home to plenty of gorgeous period properties, with terraced houses and townhouses in the regency, Victorian & Edwardian styles found throughout the area. Some of these large houses have now been split into smaller flats, and purpose-built apartments can also be found in the area.
Although a little quieter than the neighbouring Brighton, there's plenty to do in Hove. Bars, restaurants & pubs are dotted throughout the area, and the nightlife of Brighton is only ever a short, seafront walk away. Hove is also home to The Old Market, a 500-capacity cultural venue that regularly hosts comedy gigs, music shows and theatre.
