Stockwell and the surrounding area - sitting north of Brixton and between Camberwell and Clapham - is the epitome of modern South London district.
The area is relishing a renewed interest, with independent shops and cafes popping up to meet new demand. Despite recent popularity, the area maintains a community feel, and the terraced, period shop fronts contrast these 21st century businesses to great effect. Within the community, there is also a strong identity, with a cultural and social diversity. The area is in fact sometimes referred to as ‘Little Portugal’, due to the high number of Portuguese settlers.
The housing market is manifold throughout Stockwell, with 20th century estates offset by purpose-built flats and Georgian or Victorian terraced houses. Blocks of flats are also present in the district, completing a housing landscape that suits almost all requirements.
Stockwell tube station means that the rest of London is never far, with Victoria Line and Northern Line service frequently running. Other South London districts are easily reachable via the extensive network of bus routes through the area.
Stockwell’s SW4, SW8 and SW9 postcodes are all serviced by the Housekeep platform. Housekeepers on the platform all have domestic cleaning experience and have been rated 5-stars by their happy customers.
