Local information about Waterloo
Waterloo is a Central London district, just to the south of the River Thames, in the borough of Lambeth. The area is home to one of the country’s most important transport hubs as well as various other notable landmarks.
There are plenty of reasons to visit Waterloo, with cultural attractions aplenty. The Old Vic is a world famous non-profit institution, the once-home of Laurence Olivier, who served as co-director of the company. Since its opening at the Millenium, the then-world’s tallest ferris wheel, the London Eye, has also brought many people from the UK and abroad to the area.
Luckily the local infrastructure is more than capable of dealing with the daily influx; the 24-platform-strong Waterloo station is Britain’s largest and busiest railway station. The attached tube station also receives service from the Jubilee, Bakerloo, Waterloo & City and Northern lines for those coming from elsewhere in the city.
For those who’d rather not have to travel into the area, and elect to move there, the property landscape has options. Small victorian properties and converted flats feature prominently on the market as well as plenty of luxury apartments newly built along the nearby South Bank. The worker’s cottages of Roupell Street can often be spotted in movies and on television, due to the almost unique preservation of its 19th century aesthetic.
The SE1 postcode is serviced by reliable and trustworthy Housekeep cleaners. These Housekeepers are background-checked and are experienced domestic cleaners, so you can book with the confidence of receiving that 5-star clean.
