As widely reported by The Sun, The Daily Express and The Metro, the government has published new public health guidelines specifically confirming that cleaning can continue, alongside other in-home services including childcare.
Although the latest guidance is the first to mention home cleaners specifically, home cleaning has been permitted throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, providing that the cleaner and household are well and have no coronavirus symptoms and that social distancing can be observed.
Housekeep has been helping the government develop new safety guidelines for work in the home, and have worked the relevant safety precautions for customers and Housekeepers into our operations. You can find more information about the steps we've taken here. The most important point is that cleans must be skipped if either party has coronavirus symptoms, or is in a vulnerable group. If everybody in a customer’s home is well, they can continue to book a Housekeeper as normal.
We know that customers and Housekeepers have been concerned about how to continue cleaning safely, so we hope these new precautions and government guidelines provide clarity and reassurance.
