Location information about Erith
Erith is a town on the outskirts of South East London. Formerly a part of the county of Kent, Erith was brought into the newly formed London Borough of Bexley in 1965.
Erith sits in both the DA8 and DA18 postcodes, alongside Slade Green, Erith Marshes and Norhumberland Heath.
Situated on the River Thames, Erith has a coastal feel, and is home to London's longest pier: a curved structure, 360m in length.
Historically, Erith's riverside location marked it as an important industrial town. During the post-war years, however, the town's industrial status faded and much of the old town centre was demolished. Brutalist 1960s flats were erected during this period.
More recently, the town has been subject of regeneration, with new-build riverside flats & apartments appearing on the market. There are also streets of 1930s semi-detached houses in the area, which are a perfect option for families.
Erith is served by Southeastern rail through Erith railway station, as well as the nearby Slade Green station. Both stations run through to London Cannon Street and Charing Cross, offering a straightforward commute to Central London.
