Hither Green, in the South London borough of Lewisham, is a distinct and attractive residential spot, with a village-esque, community feel.
The Hither Green Festival has become an annual event in the calender of locals, a celebration of world food and crafts. The agenda also includes live music performances and other family entertainment, in the style of a village fete. Events such as this epitomise Hither Green’s attitude as a community that is both locally driven, as well as inclusive and open-minded to the wider world.
Hither Green is distinctive for the high number of period properties around - in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian fashions. The community environment owes a lot to philanthropist Archibald Cameron Corbett, who famously erected the Hither Green Estate during the Victorian Era. This was the catalyst for many of the Victorian terraced houses in the area which can still be found on the market today. Some of these are now rented out as converted flats, to suit the needs of the varied population
The Hither Green Railway Station ensures that the community is never detached from central London and beyond. Located in Zone 3, locals are within easy reach of London to the north or Kent to the south.
The Housekeep platform operates throughout the SE6, SE12 and SE13 postcodes, covering the entirety of Hither Green. Housekeepers on the platform have domestic cleaning experience and are background-checked to ensure 5-star services.
