Situated on the border of Buckinghamshire and the North West London borough of Hillingdon, the town of Uxbridge is now of both residential and commercial significance. Home of the Brunel University, London, an institution with a strong educational focus on technology and industry, the town has a high student population, as well as catering to the needs of various other demographics.

The area become a significant urban centre in the 19th century, with further development of the town in the interwar years. The Uxbridge Lido is a fine example of architecture from this period, in the art deco fashion; after a period of disuse and subsequent decay, the pool has now been refurbished to form part of the Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex. Much of the domestic architecture also dates from this period, with detached and semi-detached family homes on the market. Areas such as Greenway do also feature Victorian houses - terraced or semi-detached - and a succession of new-build flats close to the town centre have also emerged.

Uxbridge is connected to Central London via the London underground service. Uxbridge is the end of both the Metropolitan and Piccadilly Lines, so although commuting may take a little while, it’s more than possible.
