The backdrop of a fashion show can be just as iconic as the clothes shown in it. Many say Raf Simmons made his name with his first couture collection at Dior, where he lined the walls from floor to ceiling with fresh flowers. The iconic floral walls, which continue to influence a lot of Dior marketing and runway shows today, returned in style this year - in a more modern setting with stained glass panels that allowed light to pour through.  Switching this on its head, a blank canvas can be almost as defining and dramatic, and the grey walls and floors seen at the Fyodar Gdan show is mirroring trends seen in home décor for grey walls. It leaves the room ready for either defining furniture, or as a dramatic base for a minimalist room.

Victorian inspired dresses really brought a vintage feel to London Fashion Week, with the word ‘pretty’ being used to describe a lot of what we saw. The frills and full skirts might be something you think you can’t recreate in your home, but the Victorian look is something you can always add into your home with a bit of DIY and some rummaging through vintage shops. This makes finding great items can on a budget really easy, especially if you’re willing to put in a little more time.  This fun blog has loads of articles on lots of vintage looks to inspire you on all different types of looks for the home.

‘Florals? For spring? How inspired’ Miranda, The Devil Wears Prada’

While Miranda may not have been impressed by the floral designs seen at Emilia Wickstead last Saturday, we certainly were.  The vintage looking florals with the modern twist didn’t look dated or twee because the clashing patterns and sharp lines used really modernised the look. This is certainly something you can recreate in your own home, with a helping hand from this blog based solely around interior design.

Pillar box red is a stand out colour, and the Spring/Summer 2016 collections seen in London last week certainly saw the colour red standing out. Block colours really work in home décor and the growing popularity of block colour statement walls is a great opportunity to bring this trend to your home. With different shades of red you can introduce feeling of passion, warmth and joy into your living room.

Leather, red lips, and velvet led the way with the punk dressing seen in London last week. The look is a dramatic one, and certainly not everyone’s taste for the home. Proven by the outlandish effort by Khloe Kardashian taking her Range Rover and covering in black velvet, you can take elements of this trend and make it fun. The article linked shows how you can take this dramatic trend and turn it into inspiration for a habitable, fun looking apartment.
