Halloween How To: Remove 3 Deadly Stains

It's that time of the year again!

Whether you love or loathe it, Halloween really turns your home into a house of horrors! The mess left behind can sometimes be scarier than when the decorations are up...

Saying that, we're here to help! We've put together some home cleaning tips to help you tackle the toughest stains from the horror of Halloween - so you can get your home back to it's sparkling best...

1. Fake blood

Fake blood seems like a great idea at the time, but when you wake the next morning and find it’ has somehow managed to take over your entire house - and it looks like a murder scene... you may start to panic about it coming out.

Never fear, take action with shaving foam. Yes you read that right. If there are still any wet areas, blot it first. Then simply apply shaving foam to the area and rub gently with a brush (e.g. a toothbrush), and rinse.

2. Wax

You may have thought it was a great idea to light those candles everywhere.. but you're probably regretting it now that the wax has melted on your beautiful wooden floor. Whatever you do - DON’T rub the wax when melted! Wait until it is cool and simply try to remove the wax with a pallet knife covered with a plastic bag to dull, or similar. No sharp knives!

If the wax has melted onto a pillow cushion, or fabric - try freezing the item just like you would with chewing gum, it should peel away easier.

3. Face paint

Most face paints are water based, so, if the stain is on a hard surface - place a damp cloth over the top and let it rest for around 30 seconds. Then, lift the cloth and dip it in warm water with washing up liquid. Using the cloth, gently rub the surface until stain is removed. Pat dry and hey presto!

If the stain is on cushions, pillows, duvets etc, it’s best to take a more delicate approach. Dip the item in cold water, which has washing up liquid in. Take it out and blot (not rub!) the stain with a cloth until it’s all gone. Rinse and repeat until the stain disappears.

If the paint has dried, it’s best to use stain remover directly on the item and follow the instructions on the bottle.

We hope these tips help you survive the Halloween mayhem, if you have your own tips, share them with us!
