5 Ways to Keep a Dog-Friendly Home Clean

All dog owners out there know how hard it is to keep your house clean and dog-friendly at the same time. But fear not - we're sharing some of our favourite pet products that are designed to make your life easier, plus some handy tips and tricks to keep your dog-friendly home in order.

1) Fight wet dog odours

Dogs might be cute, but we all know they can make your home smell less than great. Luckily there are loads of things that not only fight odour, but make your home smell beautiful - like scented candles or citrus air fresheners. Baking soda is also very effective when sprinkled on upholstery and fabric items, like rugs and sofas. Regular baths will also keep your pet-friends fresh.

2) Stop muddy paws ruining your floors

Imagine mopping your kitchen floor to perfection, only for your pet to walk in from outdoors with muddy paws. Keep your home clean and mud-free by placing a towel over your doormat, which make a huge difference. You can also find specialist dog wet-wipes in most pet stores.

3) Tackle pet hair

The worst thing about having a dog is that their hair always tends to get everywhere, which seems impossible to ever get rid of. If you don't feel like investing in a specialist vacuum, moisture is the next-best tool to help you clean up. A damp towel or sponge works, as do tumble dryer sheets. Also, regular grooming and brushing help with reducing shedding.

4) Keep surfaces from scratching

Protect your gleaming kitchen floors and polished furniture from scratch marks by keeping your pooch’s nails clipped with regular visits to a groomer. Also, purchase some floor mats to keep food bowls from leaving marks.

5) Set boundaries for your dog

As much as we love our pets, if you want to keep your house clean, set clear boundaries as to which rooms your dog is allowed into. Keep your bedroom door closed, and buy your dog a comfortable bed and wash every week. It might seem mean but it will protect your fabric, reduce bad smells and keep hair from going everywhere.
