Local information about West Ham

West Ham is a district in the London borough of Newham. The area is famous as the home of West Ham United F.C.

Although West Ham’s football has moved from the historic Boleyn Ground in Upton Park to Stratford, the area is still strongly recognised for its football heritage. The club has been named after the London district since the turn of the 20th century, and has competed throughout the various echelons of English football ever since.

Historic examples of this include the Kier Hardie Estate in Canning Town which is named after the progressive labour MP for West Ham South in late-Victorian times.
